Sushant Death Case Investigation : A day after Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government recommended a CBI inquiry into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, the Centre has accepted its request to transfer the case from Mumbai Police to the central probe agency.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta stated the same before the Supreme Court, where the plea of actress Rhea Chakraborty seeking transfer of an FIR, accusing her of abetting the suicide of Sushant, from Patna to Mumbai, is currently being heard by a bench headed by Justice Hrisheksh Roy.
Amid an unprecedented tug of war between the police of Bihar and Maharashtra over the right to probe the death of the actor who was found dead inside his Mumbai residence on June 14, Rhea has sought transfer of FIR lodged in Patna on the ground of jurisdiction. Maharashtra has also been opposed to transferring the probe to CBI.

However, the apex court has pulled up the Maharastra government over putting Bihar’s IPS officer Vinay Tiwari in quarantine. Tiwari came to Mumbai from Patna to investigate Sushant’s death case on Sunday but was “forcibly quarantined” by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
“It doesn’t give the right message. He was there to do his job. You must do everything in a professional manner,” the bench said.
Hearing Plea about Sushant Death Case Investigation : The SC bench said that Sushant’s death took place in “unusual” circumstances and “the truth should unravel.
The apex court has also pulled up the Maharastra government over putting Bihar’s IPS officer Vinay Tiwari in quarantine.
The court said Quarantining of the police officer who arrived in Mumbai to lead the Bihar Police’s investigation into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput “does not send a good message” when there is so much attention on the case, the Supreme Court said today. The top court also sought a status report from Mumbai Police on its probe so far into the actor’s death.
“A gifted and talented artist has passed away in circumstances which are unusual. This was very unfortunate. Now, the circumstances in which this death took place needs to be inquired into,” the bench added.
Rhea, who had once allegedly tweeted to the Union Home Minister seeking CBI probe into the matter, on Tuesday opposed the move through her lawyer Satish Maneshinde by saying that the decision has “no legal sanctity”.
The top court has sought a status report from the state governments in Bihar, Maharashtra, the centre and Sushant Singh Rajput’s father to file their responses to Ms Chakraborty’s petition in three days.
Mumbai Police has been accused of “forcibly” quarantining Patna police officer Vinay Tiwari who sent to Mumbai to lead the probe
During the hearing, the centre told the Supreme Court that it has accepted the Bihar government’s recommendation for a CBI probe into actor’s death. As the turf war between the Patna and Mumbai police intensified, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday recommended a CBI investigation into Sushant Singh Rajput’s, escalating politics over the case.
The FIR against Mr Rajput’s Ms Chakraborty was filed by Bihar police on a complaint by the former’s father, alleging that she illegally transferred Rs 15 crore from Mr Rajput’s Mumbai bank account and mentally harassed him.

Earlier Vikas Singh, the lawyer appointed by Sushant Singh Rajput’s father in his case against the actor’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty, has addressed the case of the missing money from Sushant’s bank account. It has been alleged that Rs 15 crore were siphoned off his account, but the Mumbai police in a recent press conference said that while money had been withdrawn, no money had been directly transferred to Rhea’s account.
