January 9, 2025: Baby John poor run at the box office is surely hurting Varun Dhawan resurgence. With declining collections over two weeks. The film struggles to maintain momentum amid new releases and mixed reviews.

The Varun Dhawan starrer Baby John, directed by Kalees and presented by Atlee, continues its struggle at the box office. On its 14th day, the film managed to garner only ₹23 lakh, according to early estimates by Sacnilk. This takes the total two-week collection to ₹38.99 crore.

His co-star Rajpal Yadav has noted that the film could have worked better if people had not watched the original Tamil movie Theri. Surely Varun must be ‘depressed’ due to the failure of his recently released movie, Baby John. In the movie, Yadav played the role of constable Ram Sevak, a deputy to Varun’s character, DCP Satya Verma.

“If this wasn’t a remake, then this would have been the most well-made film of my 25-year career. But since Vijay had done it, the audience had already seen it and because it was a remake, it affected the box office of the film,” Rajpal told an entertainment website.

Asked if Varun is ‘depressed’ after Baby John’s failure, Rajpal Yadav added, “Varun is such a sweet boy, very hardworking. He has always tried to do something different, and his attempts must be appreciated because it’s a big deal to take risks.”

Released on December 25, 2024, Baby John also starred Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Jackie Shroff in key roles. The story of the movie revolves around Inspector Satya Verma (Dhawan), aka Baby John, leading a peaceful life with his daughter Khushi and an old friend, Ram Sevak (Rajpal Yadav). However, his past secrets bring turmoil to his life over his dangerous battle with Babar Sher (Jackie Shroff), exploring his fight to avenge his wife’s fate and exploitation of women.

Reportedly, Baby John was made on a budget of Rs 180 crore but it managed to earn less than Rs 50 crore at the box office.
