Actor Vijay Fans Club went on a celebratory mode when over 100 members of the Thalapathy Vijay Makkal Iyakkam (TVMI), the fan club of actor Vijay, won seats in the two-phase local body elections in Tamil Nadu.
Actor Vijay, whose popularity is second to Rajinikanth in Tamil cinema, let his fan club – All India Thalapathy Vijay Makkal Iyyakam – to contest from the rural bodies of nine districts which went to polls.
The victory for Vijay Fans Club members is significant as even the veteran actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan’s party Makkal Needhi Maiam and Seeman’s Naam Thamilar have failed to open their accounts.
The ruling DMK maintained its winning streak, trouncing the AIADMK, which had earlier suffered defeat in the April 6 Assembly election.
