The film is about a family’s business empire on the brink of collapse and the youngest son’s efforts to save it.
Directed by Vamshi Paidipally, the film marks Vijay’s debut in the Telugu film industry. It will be released on January 12 and is expected to compete at the box office with Ajith’s film, Thunivu.
The producer of Varisu, Dil Raju, has stated that Vijay is a bigger star than Ajith in Tamil Nadu and has requested more screens for the film. Some fans have criticized the comparison between the two actors and the potential for instigating fan wars.
