But, there is disruption in waiting, as the family realises George W Bush has other plans. Chintu Ka Birthday, in the making for almost a decade now, is loaded with goodness, a web series that we were yearning for during a long lock down period and having been served not so good content on OTT.

The cutie, heart-warming, and plain simple story of a child’s birthday party is a celebration of fatherhood; a tribute to a parent for whom his child’s happiness is ultimate.

The film mirrors the lives of those living under restrictions and looking for happiness within their home under difficult circumstances.

The story: The central character, Chintu, an adorable kid in the street, lives with his family of 5 that migrated to Iraq illegally in their quest of a better life. The film narrates the moments in their life, when they embark on celebrating his sixth birthday, a boy’s dream that parents would want it to happen no matter what it costs. It turns out to be very challenging as uninvited party poopers who not just spoil their party but threaten to destroy their lives. The loving, caring father (Vinay Pathak) of Chintu and family do not let the challenge deter their plans as they overcome the challenge to bring a smile on the child’s face.

The Zee 5 original wins audience hearts with a story that touches every human emotion, challenge, and grit to achieve what they wish to accomplish. The story Chintu’s birthday has a series of elements that keep you hooked to the film right from the word go — it presents American soldiers stuck in Iraq for years during the war, how illegal immigration destroys lives and makes you ponder about ‘goodness and evil’ of human kind.

The casting of chintu ka birthday is noteworthy, as Vinay Pathak plays the role of a father who with great panache, someone who will admire as a son, he sinks into the character as as a father who is waging a war of guilt inside him, yet not letting anything get his way to ensure that his son a birthday becomes dream turned into reality. He is well supported by  talented Tillotama Shome, who established herself as a talent to watch out for with great performances one after another.

After Mentalhood, Tillotama packs a lot of punch in Chintu ka birthday movie. She oozes  honesty to the role playing the mother role at such a young age, truly willing to be experimental as an actor. The family of five are a bundle of talent as Seema Pahwa excels in her role as nagging mother-in-law. The emotions that erupts with the party pooper is very touchy When sudha ( tillotama) asks her husband Madan  “Do you think you can smile and melt all their hearts?”.

The elder sibling Lakshmi (played by a gifted Bisha Chaturvedi) is the archetype of an Indian girl who is forced to grow up too fast for her age.
