Avatar The Way of Water, James Cameron’s latest movie continued to perform well during its second Saturday, earning around 20.75 crores. This brings its total earnings to over 200 crores.

The sci-fi epic is fast approaching the Rs 200 crore mark. The Way of Water also had the second-best opening day for a Hollywood film in India, trailing only Avengers

After a solid first week, the highly anticipated “Avatar The Way of Water,” which is directed by James Cameron, is expected to enter the league of blockbusters in India this week. The film collected around 20.75 crores on its second Saturday, and its total earnings so far stand at almost 223.5 crores. If it continues to perform well, the sequel could easily earn around 300 crores.

Avatar: The Way of Water, which was released worldwide on December 16, also stars Sigourney Weaver, Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Edie Falco, and Jemaine Clement. In India, the film has been released in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. The next two Avatar films are already in the works to continue the story of Pandora’s Na’vi tribes.

Avatar The Way of Water on course to collect Rs. 300 Crores

According to a report on the trade website Box Office India, Avatar: The Way of Water has done exceptionally well in the South. On the second Friday of its release, it accounted for half of its total India revenue. The film is even holding its own against local film releases.

The Way of Water by James was released 13 years after the original film, which was released in 2009. The sequel follows Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) as they try to protect their children from the return of the Skypeople and Colonel Quaritch (Steven Lang), who is hell-bent on vengeance. The Metkayina are a new Na’vi water tribe introduced in the film.

The film grossed Rs 40 crore on its first day, Rs 42.5 crore on the second day, Rs 46 crore on the third day, Rs 18.6 crore on the fourth day, and Rs 16.63 crore on the fifth day. The sci-fi epic is fast approaching the Rs 200 crore mark. The Way of Water also had the second-best opening day for a Hollywood film in India, trailing only Avengers: Endgame, which earned more than Rs 53 crore on its first day.

Avatar: The Way of Water was made on a $400 million budget, and it remains to be seen if it will be able to surpass its predecessor, which remains the highest-grossing film of all time with a $2.9 billion collection. So far, The Way of Water has earned more than $500 million worldwide, with India ranking among the top five global markets, alongside China, South Korea, France, and Germany.
