Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor has addressed the controversy surrounding his statement about potentially working in a Pakistani film. In a recent promotional event for his upcoming film Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, Ranbir clarified that his statement was ‘misconstrued’ and that he did not want it to be controversial.

“I had gone to a film festival and there were a lot of Pakistani filmmakers asking me this question, ‘If you’ve got a good subject would you do it?’ So, I didn’t want it to be controversial in any way,” he explained. “But, for me, films are films, art is art. I don’t think cinema sees boundaries.”

Ranbir also highlighted his previous collaborations with Pakistani artists in the industry, stating, “I have worked with Fawad (Khan) in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. I have known a lot of artists from Pakistan. Rahat (Fateh Ali Khan) and Atif Aslam are such great singers who used to contribute to Hindi cinema.”

However, the actor also emphasized the importance of respecting one’s country, adding, “Anybody who is not on good terms with your country, your first priority will always be your country.”

Fans of Ranbir Kapoor can look forward to his upcoming film Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, which stars Shraddha Kapoor and comedian Anubhav Singh Bassi. The film is directed by Luv Ranjan and produced by Luv Films and T-Series, and is set to release in theaters on March 8.

Ranbir Kapoor also has another project in the pipeline, Animal, alongside Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, and Tripti Dimri. The film is directed by Sandeep Reddy Bhanga.
