Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh were among the celebrities who attended the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday. The match, which saw Australia defeat India by six wickets, was also witnessed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other dignitaries.
However, the presence of the Bollywood trio also sparked some controversy on social media, as some netizens noticed that Shah Rukh Khan hugged Deepika Padukone, his co-star in several films, but not Ranveer Singh, her husband. A video clip that went viral showed Shah Rukh greeting Deepika with a warm embrace, but only saying hi to Ranveer from a distance.
Some fans wondered why Shah Rukh did not hug Ranveer and speculated that there was some tension between them. One user wrote, ‘#ShahRukhKhan hugs #DeepikaPadukone in #INDvsAUS match … But just say HI to #RanveerSingh… Why #ShahRukhKhan why no hug to Ranveer??’ Another user commented, ‘SRK giving him the Royal ignore’, while a third one joked, ‘Don 3 mein bhi yehi karega’.
