May 19, 2024: Global music superstar Ed Sheeran’s recent India trip was a whirlwind of unforgettable experiences. From attending Bollywood royalty Farah Khan’s party to sharing the stage withPunjabi heartthrob Diljit Dosanjh, Sheeran packed his visit with cultural immersion and musical camaraderie.
Adding another layer to his Indian adventure, Sheeran graced the popular comedy show “The Great Indian Kapil Sharma Show,” which premiered on Saturday night, May 18th. During his hilarious interaction with host Kapil Sharma, Ed Sheeran reminisced about his visit to Shah Rukh Khan’s palatial Mumbai residence, Mannat.
“The last time I was here in 2017, we had a brief encounter,” Sheeran said. “But this time, it was absolutely fantastic! Shah Rukh Khan is such a genuinely nice person. Despite his superstardom, he’s incredibly down-to-earth. We had a great time; I met his family, and we even jammed out on some songs together. They even taught me a few Bollywood dance moves!” he chuckled.
The conversation took a playful turn when Archana Puran Singh, co-host of the show, playfully reminded Sheeran about Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic pose – arms outstretched, arms wide open.
“Oh, that!” Sheeran laughed. “I don’t think I quite mastered it.” However, with a nudge from Sharma and the roaring audience, Sheeran good-naturedly recreated the pose, sending the studio into a frenzy.
Sheeran’s culinary adventures in India weren’t limited to delicious street food. When asked by Sharma about the most bizarre food he’d ever encountered while touring, Sheeran recounted a surprising experience in Japan.

“Fish sperm!” he exclaimed, eliciting gasps and laughter from the audience. “In Japan, they have this unique dish at certain sushi restaurants. The chef prepares a variety of delicacies, and you never quite know what you’ll get. One time, it was this dish called Shirako, which is basically fish testicle. It has a very… interesting texture, and let’s just say it explodes in your mouth! Apparently, some people love it, but it wasn’t my cup of tea.”
