Don 3 Row Ends in FWICE Ban on Ranveer

Tuesday, May 26, 2026: The fallout surrounding Don 3 has intensified, with the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) announcing a non-cooperation directive against actor Ranveer Singh after his exit from the project sparked an industry-level dispute.

Addressing the media in Mumbai, FWICE representatives said the move follows complaints raised by filmmaker Farhan Akhtar and producers at Excel Entertainment over the actor’s departure from the film shortly before production preparations were set to transition into execution.

According to FWICE, the production had already moved deep into pre-production planning, including location scouting, travel coordination, accommodation arrangements, and logistical commitments involving hundreds of workers. The federation said these expenditures were formally documented and presented during internal discussions with the production team.

FWICE’s leadership alleged that despite multiple invitations sent over several weeks, Ranveer Singh did not personally appear before the body to present his side. The actor’s team later responded through official communication, reportedly questioning whether the matter falls under FWICE’s jurisdiction and offering representation through his office instead.

The film workers’ body has framed the issue as larger than one film or one actor. Its office-bearers argued that abrupt exits from large-scale productions can ripple across the industry ecosystem, affecting employment for technicians, crew members, and daily-wage workers whose schedules and earnings depend on continuity of projects.

The dispute has also opened a wider conversation in Bollywood around contractual accountability and project commitments. FWICE leaders maintained that their stand is intended to protect both producers and workers, stressing that similar action would apply if producers removed directors or crew without due process.

Sources associated with the production maintain that Don 3 had already undergone extensive development with Ranveer attached, including creative discussions and promotional planning. Reports indicate Excel Entertainment is seeking recovery of approximately ₹45 crore tied to pre-production commitments.

Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh has continued to avoid public commentary. In an official statement issued through his spokesperson, the actor reiterated his respect for the film fraternity and the Don franchise, stating that professional disagreements are best handled privately and with mutual respect rather than through public exchanges.

The controversy traces back to Ranveer’s reported decision to exit Don 3 after concerns over script changes and evolving creative direction. The development came amid renewed momentum in his career following the strong commercial run of Dhurandhar.

For now, the standoff leaves questions over how the industry balances star power, producer investments, and worker protections—an issue likely to resonate beyond a single franchise.
