Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas have welcomed their first child, through surrogacy. It is still a secret whether it is a baby boy or baby girl. Even the name has not been revealed by the parents.
The couple, who have been married for three years, shared their family news on Instagram Friday.
“We are overjoyed to confirm that we have welcomed a baby via surrogate. We respectfully ask for privacy during this special time as we focus on our family,” they each wrote.
They did not share the baby’s name or sex.
Priyanka Chopra, 39 and Jonas, 29, married in 2018 in India. It was an extravagant three-day affair.
The couple first met in 2017 and took their romance public in 2018. They were engaged after just four months of dating. In an interview earlier this month with Vanity Fair, Chopra spoke about the couple having a baby in the future but did not mention that they were already expecting.
“They’re a big part of our desire for the future,” she said. “By God’s grace when it happens, it happens.”
The video is from the Jonas Brothers Family Roast which premiered on Netflix in November. In it, Priyanka Chopra says, “If you don’t know, we’re the only couple who doesn’t have kids yet, which is why I’m excited to make this announcement..” As she said this, Nick raised his eyebrows and looked nervous. Priyanka continued, “Sorry, babe. Nick and I are expecting…” As the audience started cheering, she added, “to get drunk tonight and sleep in tomorrow!”
Pointing at Nick, she told him, “Your face was really funny when I said that”. To which the American singer replied, “Yeah, I was a bit concerned.”

Priyanka and Nick took to their respective social media handles and announced the birth of their first child. Their collective note read, “We are overjoyed to confirm that we have welcomed a baby via surrogate. We respectfully ask for privacy during this special time as we focus on our family. Thank you so much (sic).”
Soon after Priyanka broke the news about becoming a parent, her fans realised she was not really joking. “So Priyanka wasn’t joking about expecting a baby soon with nick during the jonas brothers family roast special on netflix 🧍🏻♀️” a Twitter user wrote. Another added, “WAIT so priyanka’s ‘we’re expecting’ joke on Jonas Brothers Family Roast was NOT A LIE?!?!” Another fan commented, “Priyanka Chopra was definitely not kidding when she said they were expecting a baby in Jonas Brothers Family Roast.”
