The Family Star Review April 5, 2024:Rating [2.5/5] The early reviews of Family Star is mixed and overwhelming audience which watched the movie is disappointing and far from entertaining. The movie featuring Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur in the lead roles, are finally out! The film premiered in the USA on April 4, a day prior to its India release, and the early response from the audience has been mixed.

“The Family Star” unfortunately falls short of its potential. Despite the promising pairing of Vijay Devarakonda and Mrunal Thakur, the film struggles to find its footing due to several critical shortcomings.

Prior to the The Family Star release, Samantha Ruth Prabhu cheered for the film and she wrote, “Go get a blockbuster. Family Star releasing tomorrow.” Reacting to the post, Vijay wrote, “Thank you Sammy.” Mrunal Thakur, reacting to Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s post, wrote, “Sammm. Thank you my sweetheart.”

Directed by Parasuram Petla, Family Star revolves around the life of Govardhan (Vijay Deverakonda), a middle-class individual committed to his family’s happiness and well-being. His unexpected romance becomes a focal point of the film.

The Family Star Fails to Sparkle as Expected

Vijay Deverakonda posted on social media about his real life Family Star, his father, and he wrote, “My hero. My star. Life is full of highs and lows and I do not know what it holds in store. But I work everyday to make you proud and happy. I love you my superstar. We made Family Star to celebrate the stars in our lives, sharing with you a little flashback of the man who I made this movie for. I dedicate this movie to every Man/Woman/Boy/Girl fighting for their family. Lots of love, Your man. Vijay.”

Social Media Reviews

Sharing the review about The Family Star, a user wrote on X, “Decent first half and comedy worked well… Vijay and Mrunal at their best. A good family track movie. The Interval banger is really uff (bomb emoji and fire emojis).

Another movie buff who watched the film wrote on google – I am gonna give 2/10 for this movie. One for making me sit throughout the movie and two for my own anticipation to watch this movie.

First and foremost, the protagonist’s characterization in The Family Star feels lackluster and underdeveloped. While Devarakonda undoubtedly brings charisma to the screen, the script fails to provide him with the depth and complexity needed to truly engage the audience.

Similarly, Thakur’s character could have been a powerhouse with a stronger narrative foundation. Instead, she is relegated to a secondary role without sufficient supporting story elements to truly shine.

Moreover, the storyline itself leaves much to be desired, with weak connections between plot points and a lack of cohesive storytelling. Attempts at comedy fall flat, failing to elicit the desired laughs from the audience.

The unnecessary inclusion of a New York scene with white characters feels forced and out of place, adding little to the overall narrative. As the film progresses, it becomes increasingly evident that it is stretched thin, with pacing issues becoming more pronounced, particularly towards the conclusion.

On a brighter note, the music in “The Family Star” manages to leave a positive impression, with catchy tunes such as “Nandanandana” earning praise. However, even the strongest aspects of the film cannot overshadow its fundamental flaws.

In essence, watching “The Family Star” feels akin to being served plain, undercooked rice with an excess of water and unappetizing surprises floating within. It’s a missed opportunity that leaves both viewers and those involved with the film feeling disappointed.

Emotion works beautifully in the 2nd half that saves the movie! My Rating – 3.5/5.” Another one said, “Family Star – First half is entertaining so far!! I think second half will have more gripping moments the way interval bang has happened!” A third user called the film a “perfect family entertainer!!”

The promotional materials of Family Star, including its trailer and music tracks, have garnered favourable reactions from audiences and social media users alike.

“Wishing @thedeverakonda, @mrunalthakur, Dil Raju garu and the entire team all the best for #TheFamilyStar release tomorrow!” Vijay Deverakonda reposted the same with the message, “I love you Prabhas Anna (with a red heart emoji).”

Vijay’s Kushi co-star Samantha Ruth Prabhu also gave a shout-out to the actor for his new release. She wrote, “Go get a BLOCKBUSTER @thedeverakonda @mrunalthakur @srivenkateswaracreations #FamilyStar Releasing tomorrow.” “Thank you Sammy (with a smile and heart emojis),” Vijay wrote in his reply.
