July 2, 2024: In a move set to expand its cultural footprint across continents, Nikhil Nagesh Bhat’s gripping action film ‘Kill’ which introduces actor Lakshya is slated for an English-language remake, courtesy of a partnership between Lionsgate and 87Eleven Entertainment.

Best known for their contributions to the blockbuster ‘John Wick’ series, Lionsgate and 87Eleven Entertainment are collaborating to reimagine ‘Kill’ for global audiences. The original movie, which stars Bollywood newcomer Lakshya alongside Raghav Juyal and Tanya Maniktala, is scheduled to premiere on July 5th after receiving critical acclaim at the Toronto International Film Festival and the Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year.
Produced under the banners of Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment, ‘Kill’ has garnered attention for its intense storyline and breathtaking action sequences. Chad Stahelski, who praised the film as “vivid, wild, and creative,” expressed excitement about adapting it for English-speaking audiences.
Makers Caution “Kill” Film is not for the light-hearted
Karan Johar, a key producer of the original film, took to social media to express his enthusiasm for the Hollywood remake. Sharing a screenshot of the Variety article on Instagram Stories, Johar captioned it with emojis of folded hands and a fist, indicating his anticipation for ‘Kill’ film reaching a broader global audience.
In a joint statement, producers Karan Johar, Guneet Monga, Apoorva Mehta, and Achin Jain highlighted the significance of collaborating with Lionsgate, describing it as a landmark moment for Indian cinema. They expressed pride in ‘Kill’ potentially resonating with North American audiences, foreseeing the film’s widespread appeal.
As ‘Kill’ prepares for its original release and the upcoming English-language adaptation, industry insiders anticipate its impact on international audiences, positioning it as a standout example of cross-cultural cinematic storytelling.
