August 25, 2024: Following serious accusations of sexual assault made by actress Revathy Sampat, Actor Siddique has resigned from his position as the General Secretary of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) . Siddique reportedly handed over his resignation letter to AMMA’s President, actor Mohanlal, officially amid these troubling allegations.

Siddique stated, “I chose to resign voluntarily because it is inappropriate to continue in this position while facing such allegations. No one pressured me to step down. I want the truth to emerge.”

When questioned about the accusations, Siddique mentioned that he would offer a detailed response after consulting with his legal team.

The allegations were made public by Revathy Sampath, who revealed that Siddique had invited her to Thiruvananthapuram for a film audition, which turned out to be for a “non-existent movie.”

Actor Siddique Wrongdoing

“Siddique contacted me via social media and offered me a role in a Tamil film, where his son was also supposed to act. I trusted him because he always referred to me as ‘daughter.’ But when I arrived in Thiruvananthapuram after a year, it was a trap. He assaulted me in a hotel room for an hour, hitting and kicking me when I resisted. He is a criminal, and I know others who have faced similar experiences. This incident led to severe mental health issues, and I had to give up on my dreams. No one should go through this,” Revathy told the media.

Siddique’s resignation comes just two days after he addressed the media regarding AMMA’s stance on the Hema committee report, which highlighted the challenges women face in the Malayalam film industry.

During his earlier statement, Siddique had emphasized that AMMA would not support any member involved in wrongdoing against women and insisted that no one had been excluded from the industry for raising complaints.
