Known for his understated charm and impactful roles, Dev had been unwell for several days and was admitted to the ICU, where he ultimately breathed his last.
He is survived by his brother, actor Rahul Dev, who has not yet released a statement but is believed to be surrounded by close friends and family during this difficult time.

According to actor Vindu Dara Singh, who shared screen space with Mukul in Son of Sardar, the actor had distanced himself from social circles after the loss of his parents.
“After their death, Mukul Dev just withdrew. He barely stepped out or met anyone. His health declined quickly in recent days,” Singh said in a heartfelt statement . “My heart goes out to Rahul and to everyone who ever knew or loved Mukul. He was a gem, so quiet, yet so full of depth. It’s heartbreaking to think he won’t get to see himself on screen again.”
Actress Deepshika Nagpal, visibly shaken, took to Instagram to share a throwback photo with Mukul. She also shared her grief in a conversation with India Today, revealing that Mukul never disclosed the extent of his illness, not even to his closest friends.
“We have this friends’ group on WhatsApp where we’d chat. But he never said a word about being unwell. I woke up to this news, and I just kept calling his number, hoping he’d pick up. I still can’t believe it,” she said, her voice breaking.
Mukul Dev, who began his career in the 1990s, appeared in both Hindi and regional cinema, as well as numerous television shows. Despite not being a constant headline-maker, he remained a respected figure known for his authenticity and commitment to craft.
