October 6, 2025: Rishab Shetty’s magnum opus, Kantara: Chapter 1, is making waves at the global box office since its theatrical release on October 2. The Kannada-language film has already amassed a staggering ₹235 crore gross in its opening weekend, and it’s set to soar even higher. With trends suggesting an additional ₹61 crore nett in the first few days, Kantara is on track to breach the ₹300 crore mark by its fourth day in theatres.

The film, which opened with a massive ₹88 crore on its first day, experienced a slight dip to ₹65 crore on the second day but rebounded magnificently on Sunday, earning ₹82 crore and taking its total to ₹235 crore globally by the end of the first three days. This impressive momentum places the film among the top performers in Indian cinema, with its earnings poised to break several records in the coming days.

In a heartwarming moment, veteran actor Anupam Kher, alongside his family, watched Kantara: Chapter 1 and took to social media to express their admiration. In a video shared by Rishab Shetty on X (formerly Twitter), Anupam Kher could hardly contain his excitement after the film. He shared a touching message with Rishab, saying, “We are speechless. We liked the film a lot…God bless you.” The actor’s heartfelt words not only spoke to the film’s emotional depth but also highlighted the widespread appreciation for Shetty’s directorial prowess.

As Kantara continues to dominate, it has become the third highest-grossing Kannada film of all time, surpassing Yash’s KGF: Chapter 1. Currently, it sits behind only Kantara and KGF: Chapter 2, which earned ₹408 crore and ₹1,215 crore, respectively.

Directed by and starring Rishab Shetty, with Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, and Gulshan Devaiah in pivotal roles, Kantara: Chapter 1 has proven to be a significant triumph not only for Kannada cinema but for the larger Indian film industry.
