October 26, 2026: Micromax co-founder Rahul Sharma has opened up about his marriage to former actor Asin, praising her unwavering support and revealing the couple’s screen-free approach to raising their daughter, Arin.
For someone who once ruled the big screen, Asin has kept a remarkably low profile since stepping away from films. But away from the spotlight, the former actor continues to play an important role in the life of her husband, Micromax co-founder Rahul Sharma.
In a recent interview with MyGov India, Rahul spoke candidly about their marriage, describing Asin as the person who keeps him grounded and encourages him to push ahead, even when things get difficult.
“Marrying Asin was the most important thing that worked well for me,” he said, calling her the rock behind his success. According to Rahul, she has a way of putting things into perspective whenever he faces a challenge, reminding him not to worry and to keep moving forward.
He also spoke about the importance of having a partner who offers encouragement rather than holding you back. For Rahul, Asin has been exactly that person, someone who understands his ambitions and believes in him without hesitation.
“Her contribution to my life is more than what I can explain,” he said, reflecting on the place she holds in his life. The conversation also offered a glimpse into the couple’s family life and their seven-year-old daughter, Arin Rayn Sharma.
Rahul was particularly impressed by Arin’s interest in languages. He said she could already understand and speak around 12 languages, including Korean, Japanese, Thai and Chinese, while joking that he himself struggles to keep up with even two languages.
The entrepreneur also credited Asin with managing much of the work that goes into keeping their family on track. Comparing the pressures of professional life with the challenges that can arise at home, he said Asin takes care of the latter, adding that he had never encountered anyone quite like her.
Their parenting choices are equally distinctive. Rahul revealed that the family does not have a television at home and has kept mobile phones and other screens away from Arin so far. Instead, books occupy a central place in their household.
Arin is currently in Class 2, but Rahul said the family already has books meant for Classes 8 and 9. He even joked that they might as well prepare her for the Class 10 board examinations while they are at it.
He attributed much of this emphasis on reading and learning to Asin, giving her credit for the environment they have created for their daughter.

Asin built a formidable career across Malayalam, Telugu and Tamil cinema before making her Hindi film debut opposite Aamir Khan in Ghajini (2008). The film became a major box-office milestone, crossing the Rs 100 crore mark in India and establishing her as a familiar face among Hindi film audiences.
The acto ‘s rise had begun several years earlier. After making her debut in the Malayalam film Narendran Makan Jayakanthan Vaka (2001), she gained wider recognition with the Telugu hit Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi (2003).
Asin went on to feature in popular films such as M Kumaran Son of Mahalakshmi, Sivakasi, Pokkiri, Varalaru and the Tamil original of Ghajini. Her work alongside leading stars, including Vijay, Suriya and Ravi Teja, helped establish her as one of the prominent actresses in South Indian commercial cinema.
Bollywood followed with a string of mainstream releases, including London Dreams (2009), Ready (2011), Housefull 2 (2012), Khiladi 786 (2012) and Bol Bachchan (2012). Her final film was All Is Well (2015), co-starring Abhishek Bachchan.
Asin married Rahul Sharma in 2016 and subsequently stepped away from acting, choosing a life largely removed from public attention.
While she may no longer be a regular presence on screen, Rahul Sharma’s latest remarks offer a reminder of the influence she continues to have behind the scenes. For him, her role goes far beyond being a supportive spouse.
